I was here for the birth of Barkley Public Relations in 1988. We are part of an integrated company with all the marketing communications disciplines that are available today. As president of the PR firm, I serve as the chief pinball going where I'm needed. My most important job is trying to find the right people to work here and then get out of their way so they can do their jobs. I am also now executive vice president of the entire company focusing on marketing and new business development. I serve on the Board of the holding company and also as one of the four trustees for the company’s ESOP. We are a 100% employee owned company.
My previous lives included being a working journalist in both public radio and for an NBC television affiliate. I also produced and directed the news there. I then had a dream opportunity to serve as press secretary to a governor for five years before I entered the world of agency public relations.
I have always volunteered my time to good causes. I am currently involved in our local zoo, a free health clinic and our regional food bank. I also love to guest lecture at area universities.
I am part of a modern American family with more branches than I can list here. I have two fabulous sons; an incredible step daughter and step son; and three amazing grandchildren. My wife is one of a kind and keeps me honest and humble.
