It's World Water Day - March 22. We need to have 365 of these in reality.
Britt has loads of great links about why this day needs to be recognized and how each one of us can do something to make a difference. As she points out:
"Worldwide, 54 per cent of the annual available fresh water is being used. If consumption per person remains steady, by 2025 we could be using 70 per cent of the total because of population growth alone. If per capita consumption everywhere reached the level of more developed countries we could be using 90 per cent of the available water by 2025."
One billion people (1,000,000,000) are without access to safe drinking water in the world today. We can make a difference in our own community by conserving where we can and globally by joining in with organizations like WaterAid.
When it comes to water conservation, we should not practice it when it comes to drinking water. It may be the single best way to stay healthy.
Just stumbled on this blog... Water is so much a grave issue, but few realise it.
There is so much shortage of water, yet we take availability of water for granted. There is a lot we individually can do, like not wasting water. In an incrimental manner such individual efforts make an impact. Is it not?
